About Us

Parentwood Baby and Family Wellness Centre was started in 2013 by registered nurse and clinic sister Kristel Steyn-Battheu. The practice opened in Rietondale against the beautiful background of Rietondale Park, and was started as a second branch of Netcare Femina Hospital’s Stork’s Nest Clinic.

The birth of Parentwood@Rietondale provided us with the much-needed space to assist more mothers with their well-baby visits, and to host our support groups, courses and workshops.

Community Health Nursing doesn’t receive the rightful place that it should in South Africa. Families and communities consist of complex structures, and one cannot address a single health problem in an individual without giving attention to their overall physical and mental well-being, and without recognising the role of their family and community.

At Parentwood we are passionate about not only treating disease, but providing holistic and preventative care. We also have an extensive network of other professionals to whom we can refer families who need more assistance.

Because of the complexities of two brands we are in the process of rebranding Netcare Femina Stork’s Nest to Parentwood@Femina. Both our clinics are well-known for our excellent service, with many clients traveling to us from various towns outside Pretoria and even Gauteng.

We value each family and each visit, and aim to make each experience a positive and empowering one.
